Newsletter update for 2007.

First of all, we would like to welcome our newcomers onto the SMASH committee and for the first time, we have our committee photo, so you can see who's who. (We weren't really all that nervous)!

We have some great events lined up for you, starting with our Quiz night on 2nd February.

So it's time to get a group of you together and have a FUN night out with friends and family.

Other events to look out for are the children's Easter Bonnet parade on 29th March.
Our Lazy Bones boot sale on Sunday 29th April, our FUN RUN on 12th May and of course the big one.... the summer fete on Friday July 6th.

We will be trying to get a BARN DANCE organised too. One where the children can join in the fun too!

We hope you enjoy the events we have planned, but of course, you can always put in your own suggestions.
We have had one Mum ask about doing a girls only pamper evening??? How's about that then??

Look out for our quarterly newsletters coming out via your children..

Many thanks

Chairperson,

10TH ANNIVERSARY FUN RUN

10TH FUN RUN

One blustery and showery Saturday morning, 149 children and some brave Parents, came down to the Sea-life Centre and ran 2.2 miles, along the seafront. Some were in fancy dress and looked fantastic!!

Mr Smith was happily snapping away with his camera, at anyone who caught his eye and a few have been chosen to receive special spot prizes.

Mr Foxall was at the finish line with his camera too and has a lot of happy faces. These were probably just relief at finishing, but were then rewarded with some much needed chocolate and a drink.

Two teachers joined us, as did Miss Drake from the Office and even Mrs Neil YEE HAA'RD her way to the end, dressed as a cow girl!!

Medals were given out during school assembly so WELL DONE to all these winners.

Please remember that there is a special prize for the child with the most sponsorship money in by FRIDAY 26TH JULY. Back to top
QUIZ NIGHT 3RD FEBRUARY 2006
Our resident quizmaster, Mr Paul Davidson-Holmes, cut rather a dashing figure, weaving his way around all the tables to ensure no cheating was going on and Many thanks goes to Teresa Webb and Emma, for their scoring.
The teachers table won (we all know we let them win) and a total of £294.20 was raised from this event. THANK YOU Back to top
EASTER BONNET PARADE
Well, what a wonderful event this was!!!

Some gorgeous creations were paraded on our 'catwalk' and Carnival Queen CARLY could have chosen them all.

Thanks go to our strongmen John Rock and Martin Webb for erecting the catwalk and to Mr and Mrs Jones for escorting the Carnival Queen.
Jo Day, Sue Garwood and Sue Binnie from SMASH, organised this event. Thanks go to them.
Mrs Neil's hat earned her a chocolate rabbit. Which I understand went really well with a cup of tea later that afternoon!!!

OVER £250 WAS RAISED.

Thank you. Back to top
SUMMER FETE 2007
Friday July 6th 2007 had us worrying about the weather. At 7.30am Penny and Paul were erecting gazebos and tying them to anything that stood still long enough, to stop them blowing away. They were soon joined by the regular crew, helping to get organised, under the ever careful guidance of Mr Rock and Mr Jones.

Things were being delivered throughout the day and a huge thanks to all the children for actually leaving the items alone. Very tempting to see but not touch!!!

3 o'clock came very soon and the Essex Radio BLACK THUNDERS opened the fete with goody bags and completions, there was lots to see, do and buy and we hope that you had a really good time. Thank you for all your prayers for good weather - it certainly worked.

A SMASHing time was had at the Krazy Kitchen and Mr Foxall and Mrs Bacon did wonderful things with their coconuts. The kitchen staff were allowed out into the fresh air and did a marvellous job on the BBQ.
Did everyone visit Mrs Cashell and Mrs Nystrom decorating biscuits???
Miss Baldwin and Miss Taylor were very busy with the ice cream and the candy floss was being whipped up a treat.

We hope you enjoyed the entertainment from Mrs Larkin and her country dancers, perhaps you even joined in......Mrs Neil thoroughly enjoyed herself there.

Sorry about the giant slide, opening late (circumstances beyond our control), but THANK YOU MR FAROOQ for taking care that all was safe
Thank you to everyone who helped, attended, bought things and looked happy. WE TOOK A WHOPPING £2200 ON THE DAY.

Please watch out for your quarterly newsletter and dates for your diary, for future events. Back to top
